Keeps logs and maintains other records that help monitor the movement of the ship. Ensures that appropriate procedures and safety practices are followed, checks whether the equipment is functioning properly, and supervises the loading and unloading of cargo or the embarkation and disembarkation of passengers. Supervises crew members performing technical maintenance and primary repair work.
