Other sewing, embroidery and related workers, not included in unit group 7533 'Sewing, embroidery and related workers', who sew, cut garments, mend and decorate garments, gloves and other articles of textile, leather and other materials, and sew tents, sails, awnings and tarpaulin cover. They mostly work by hand with a needle and thread, but they can do some work with a sewing machine.

Main activities

repairs defective or damaged parts of fabric or clothing by hand; 
disassembles the seams of re-sewn clothes; 
selects threads by color to match the color and shade of the fabric being repaired; 
patch holes and sew faded seams; 
pulls the knots to the wrong side of the garment with a needle.

Characteristic competences

embroider ornaments by hand on stamped material templates with a needle and colored threads; soften the leather with water, prepare it for sewing; sew or glue decorative details to products; sew umbrella fabric to the frame by hand; manufacture and assemble sails, awnings and tents from thick fabrics.
