Uses calibration and etalonation methods, performs calibration of certain physical quantities measurement tools and etalons of standards. Ensures, the data measurement at the national and international level, uses unified, precise and interrelated sets of measurements and standards. Participates in the creation of national standards for physical quantities, takes care of their preservation, creation of new measurement methods, testing and implementation work, carries out metrological control and supervision, performs calculation of measurement errors and evaluates the reliability of measurement tools.

Main activities

* collect and process data from meteorological satellites, radars and observers;
* accumulate and store meteorological data;
* oversee computer databases;
* supervise, adjust meteorological equipment and gauges, identify malfunctions and eliminate them;
* compile summaries of wind, rain, temperature, sunny days in various regions.
