The educator nurtures and cares for children, supervises, and ensures their safety. They help children solve problems that arise in educational institutions and assist with adapting to new environments. They communicate with colleagues, children's parents, and, if necessary, with children's psychologists, medical or social workers.

* identify and assess students' abilities and needs;
* advise students on educational issues such as course and program selection, timetable, school change, study habits, and career planning;
